Project Haribon
A disaster response system built to optimize rescue missions and logistics across Bicol using geospatial tech and smart network science.
Achievements & Highlights
- Qualifier for National Conference - Philippine Academic Society for Climate and Disaster Resilience (PASCDR) 3rd National Conference, entitled "Localizing Science-Based and Creative Innovations for Climate Change Action and Disaster Risk Reduction Through Partnership and Collaboration".
- Champion, Hack4Dev Sprint: Fast-tracking Innovation for Smart and Sustainable Development at the Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) in Bicol against 25 competing teams.
- Secured funding from the Naga City Government and received institutional support from MAGIS TBI – Ateneo de Naga University’s Technology Business Incubator.
Contributions
- Built a full-stack disaster response platform that leverages geospatial intelligence to streamline rescue coordination and logistics across the Bicol Region.
- Implemented advanced geospatial visualizations with Mapbox GL JS to display hazard zones, evacuation centers, and real-time rescue routes, enabling faster and data-driven decision-making during crises.
- Deployed backend microservices on AWS EC2 using Docker containers, monitored with CloudWatch, and configured a custom domain via Cloudflare, ensuring scalable, reliable, and production-ready infrastructure.
- Designed and implemented a role-based access control (RBAC) system, enabling admins to manage users, privileges, activity logs, and infrastructure data—critical for supporting local government operations and secure disaster response workflows.
